Jamorama Review

Jamorama guitarAs one of the most popular online guitar lesson programs of the past five years Jamorama has helped thousands of beginners learn to play guitar. How ever as newer guitar lessons websites pop up with HD video lessons and low monthly fees is there still room for a course like Jamorama in the market?

What’s included

Jamorama is a mix between guitar learning software and online lessons. At the heart of the course is the mastero software. This is the program you download directly after purchase and ties together all the different components of the Jamorama guitar course.

Each section consists of a written lesson with images to teach you the basics as well as several multimedia video files that demonstrate new concepts. Starting with the second lesson there are also jam tracks used for practicing.

These jam tracks are pre-recorded songs with and without guitar included for you to play along with and practice your new skills. These are fun to use and give you the feel that you’re playing with other musicians and not just on your own at home.

Does it Work?

Like any guitar lesson course the most important ingredient to your success is your hard work and consistency with practice. You can have the best program out there but if you aren’t using it and practicing what you learn you won’t be getting any better.

The mix of printed lesson material and video snippets isn’t for everyone. Me personally I like full video lessons, but there are some people who learn better by reading then by watching. If that’s you then Jamorama could be the best choice.

Over all the course does cover all the necessary topics to teach you how to play the guitar in a short period of time. There isn’t a lot of musical theory covered but then again Jamorama is targeting people who want to learn songs not necessarily become guitar virtuosos.

Who’s this Course For?

As mentioned Jamorama is definitely a beginner guitar course, and designed for those who are interested in learning to play pop songs. If you’re someone who wants to be the next Jimi Henderix or John Mayer this course isn’t gonna do it for you.

Also I’d say Jamorama works best with people who like to learn from reading and pictures rather then watching videos.

Buy or Don’t Buy?

I’m going to suggest that unless you’re really tied to the idea of lessons in text form you should spend your money on a few months at JamPlay or Guitar Tricks. Their lesson videos will teach you a lot more in a shorter period of time then Jamorma. Also these websites provide intermediate guitar lessons as well so you can grow as a player without having to find a new form of instruction.
